You should take time to visit Genoa, originally settled by Mormons in 1851. This was first town in Nevada established due to agriculture, first being a trading post to serve wagon trains heading west. You can still visit this settlement and learn history of the Gold Rush days.
Minden and Gardnerville are sister towns which come together to form one large community, known as Nevada's Garden Spot and providing much of the state's rich agriculture production. The green valley of Douglas County, the historic stops, and the incredible outdoor recreation, make this area a must-see when traveling through Nevada or northern California.
