Tahoe City is located just 15 miles off Interstate 80 and has shoreline that rests both to the north and to the west along Lake Tahoe. It is located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe at the headwaters of the Truckee River.

Reno, NV is located only 50 miles northeast of Tahoe City, Truckee, CA is 18 miles to the north of the city, and Sacramento, CA can be found 120 miles to the southwest.
