Showers & Laundry
For the avid outdoorsman, the best way to experience the Lake Tahoe region is on foot or by bicycle, living out of a backpack. Even those among you who prefer to sleep in a tent or simply under the stars, enjoy a good hot shower and a clean set of clothes after a few days. There are a number of places in the Tahoe area where you can catch a shower and do a load of clothes.
Lake Tahoe is rich in outdoor activities, scenic beauty and vast forestlands filled with rivers, streams and high alpine lakes on both sides of the Lake in California and/or Nevada. Many individuals who come to the area do so because of their love of the exploration of the backcountry. For these hardy individuals, there are numerous facilities for hot showers and laundry. The majority of the RV sites, private and public campground have shower houses and coin-operated laundry rooms. If you are not a paying tenant at the campground, be sure to check with the manager about the possible use of their shower and laundry facilities. Many of the local communities have public coin operated laundromats.
Showers may also be available at hostels, public swimming pools, and health or recreation clubs. Another option for a hot shower and a load of laundry is the local hostel. For a reasonable price, you can get a good bed, wash up and even cook your own meal in a community kitchen. Always check with the management of any establishment before using their facilities.
