Since 1993, the Lake Tahoe Marathon has been attracting runners from all over the country who enjoy running through the lush scenery that is Tahoe. Staged around the marathon is four days of exciting activities for the entire family, including additional sporting events and a host of leisure activities.

You may run, walk, swim, paddle, pedal or swing one or more of the many events during Lake Tahoe Marathon Week of Events that spans over the course of a 5 day week.

Overview: While many runners and spectators arrive at Lake Tahoe in late September for the annual marathon and half marathon, they hang around for fantastic Lake Tahoe Marathon Week, full of both exciting and relaxing things to do.

Details: Actually, Lake Tahoe Marathon "Week" is usually five days long and encompasses the two major running events. The highlight of the week, of course, is the Lake Tahoe marathon itself, which takes runners past breathtaking scenery and up the challenging hills of the southwest portion of the lake.

In addition, however, runners and their families can choose from a host of other things to do. Additional events include fun runs, 5 and 10K kayak races, swimming competitions, cycle rides of various lengths, buffet dinners, and sunset cruises around the lake. Many of the events offer prizes for winners and all marathon and half-marathon runners who complete the races receive finisher medals.
