Find Scenic Drives
Lake Tahoe nestled on the border of California and Nevada is surrounded by national forests, vast wilderness and incredible scenery. A drive in nearly any direction is a "scenic drive" in this area. However, the actual designated scenic drive, East Shore Drive is spectacular. It skirts the edges of the water and provides awe-inspiring views of the entire Lake Tahoe Basin. With the snow-capped mountains of the Sierras as a backdrop, part of East Shore Drive follows the same route as the Pony Express Trail and another section is home to the historic sacred grounds of the Washo Indians.
