With over seventy miles of shoreline, there a number of great places for photography. Emerald Bay is one of the most photogenic areas, with awesome views of the lake, mountains, and Tahoe's only island, Fannette Island. Located on the southwest corner of Lake Tahoe in California, the bay may be inaccessible during winter months.
There are a number of scenic roads around Lake Tahoe that give photographers tons of inspirational views. Lake Tahoe-Eastshore Drive stretches from Incline Village to Stateline, Nevada and is mostly undeveloped. You'll pass along Crystal Bay, Spooner Lake, and Zephyr Cove Resort. Other scenic roads include Mount Rose Highway or South Lake Tahoe to Truckee. Or if you'd rather skip the car altogether, you could take a scenic helicopter ride for an aerial view of the lake.
For nature photographers, Lake Tahoe is perfect for capturing wildlife and plants in their natural habitat. Snap a picture of the western tanager, a beautifully colorful bird native to the Tahoe Basin or get a lose-up of the delicate crimson columbine, a red flower that can be seen from April through August.
No matter what you photograph, it's really hard to get a bad shot of the natural wonder.
