Reno/Tahoe International Airport
The Reno / Tahoe International Airport is generally the most direct route to the Lake Tahoe area. The airport offers over 180 flights daily with service from most major cities.

  • Airport Code: RNO
  • Location: RNO is located in Reno, Nevada, approximately 64 miles from South Lake Tahoe. The drive takes about an hour and a half.
  • Airlines: Alaska, Horizon, American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, United, and Allegiant Air Charter Flights.
  • Airport Services: Reno has modern facilities and a range of visitor services.
  • Getting To/From the Airport:
    -South Lake Tahoe Express and North Lake Tahoe Express provide a shuttle services between the airport and several area resorts.
    -There are several rental car companies located at the airport.
    -Limousines & taxis are available for rent.

Sacramento International Airport
If you can’t catch a flight into Reno, Sacramento International is your next best option for quick access to Tahoe. It’s approximately two hours away by car.

  • Location: SMF is located approximately 115 miles west of South Lake Tahoe in the city of Sacramento.
  • Airlines: The airport is serviced by Delta, Hawaiian, Southwest, Alaska, American Airlines, Continental, Frontier, Horizon Air, JetBlue, and United Airlines.
  • Airport Services: Sacramento International Airport has modern facilities and a range of visitor services.
  • Getting To/From the Airport:
    -A variety of rental cars are available at the airport.
    -Sierra-at-Tahoe provides a free shuttle during ski season.
    -Amtrak Motorcoach provides service to the area.

Minden-Tahoe Airport
The Minden-Tahoe Airport is not serviced by commercial airlines; however, it’s popular with sport aviators and corporate flyers.

  • Airport Code: MEV
  • Location: MEV is located in Minden, Nevada approximately 25 miles east of South Lake Tahoe.
  • Airlines: No commercial airlines service MEV. The airport is a full service, non-towered facility used primarily by sport aviators, emergency services, and corporate flyers. The area is also world-renowned as a soaring destination and is home to several soaring world records.
  • Airport Services: The airport has two asphalt paved runways and a glider runway. The airport is home to a full range of aircraft services.
  • Getting To/From the Airport:
    - Several area resorts provide free shuttles to the airport.
    - Rental cars are not available at the airport.
    -Several taxi and limousine services are available by appointment.

Lake Tahoe Airport
Lake Tahoe Airport is small single-runway airport that is no longer serviced by commercial airlines; however, this is popular airport for private aviators.

  • Airport Code: TVL
  • Location: TVL is located in South Lake Tahoe at 1901 Airport Road. Its located close to town.
  • Airlines: Lake Tahoe Airport is not serviced by any commercial airlines. It is available for private planes.
  • Airport Services: Lake Tahoe Airport provides a full range of aviation and helicopter services. An air show takes place during the summer.
  • Getting To/From the Airport:
    -No car rental services are available at the airport. Hertz, Avis, and Enterprise have locations in town.
    -There are several taxi and limousine services available.
    -Many area ski resorts, hotels, casinos, and resorts provide free shuttle services.
    -BlueGO provides fixed route shuttles available for a fee. They operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
