Lake Tahoe is home to many a winter recreation area, including the renowned crosscountry skiing spot called the Royal Gorge. Located at Donner Summit, its world class facilities and amenities, including lodges, multiple huts for warming, restaurants, trails and lifts, can compete with any other state ski resorts. X-Country skiers enjoy fantastic scenery and mountainous landscapes, as well as the never ceasing Californian sunshine. In fact, not only are the many trails used for cross country skiing, but many people also enjoy variations, including striding, diagonal striding, skating, telemarking and snow-shoeing.

The center also offers varied packages for vacationers, ranging from romantic couple to family fun. Packages are all-inclusive, allowing for free use of the trails, huts, lifts, rentals, lodgings, cafes and complementary meals in either the Rainbow's or Ice Lakes' restaurants, with a choice of traditional and modern Californian or rustic French cuisines.
