Beaches & Bays

Lake Tahoe has a variety of beaches and bays perfect for swimming. Swimming access is available at most sections of the lake, and many include beach areas for tanning and picnicking. It's like having a beach in the mountains. When the weather is good, nothing beats a chilly soak in Lake Tahoe.

Chambers Beach
Chambers Beach, located near Homewood, is ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There's no public parking here, though, so access the beach by bike or foot. The same goes for Commons Beach Park in downtown Tahoe City.

Coon Street Beach
The Coon Street Boat Launch and Picnic Area has grills, a picnic area, and restrooms, as well as a god beach. Park or launch your boat for a fee.

Kilner Park
Kilner Park is a good place to take the kids, while Kings Beach State Recreation Area has a wide and long beach that facilitates plenty of activities. You can sometimes find fairs here. You can also parasail or rent a bike or kayak at this beach.

Lake Forest Beach
Lake Forest Beach Park is popular for swimming, wind surfing, and bird watching.

Moondunes Beach
Moondunes Beach at Tahoe Vista is a 600-foot-long beach ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There are also restrooms and picnic facilities here.
